Hofstra University, which is a nationally and internationally recognized educational institution, is located in Hempstead, Long Island, 25 miles east of New York City. Hofstra is situated on a beautiful 250-acre suburban campus, adorned by an impressive collection of sculptures, open grassy areas, academic buildings, an extensive library, the student center, dining areas, as well as athletic fields and courts, an Olympic-sized indoor pool, a museum of visual arts, and a bird sanctuary. Furthermore, the campus has been officially designated an arboretum, in recognition of the more than 12,000 trees belonging to 625 species and varieties that are represented. Our campers and staff are housed in our own secure dormitory on the campus and by becoming a part of the Hofstra community we have the opportunity to take advantage of an exciting array of social, cultural, and recreational experiences.

What are the dorm accommodations?

At Hofstra, our campers and staff will be living in the Colonial Square residential complex, which is a secure gated community. We will be staying in suite-style housing, in a small, two-level dorm. Each suite consists of two to three bedrooms, a shared living area, and a bathroom. Bedrooms include beds, dressers, wardrobes, desks, and a closet. There will be four to six campers per suite with staff members residing on each floor.

What will happen if my camper has a medical emergency?

We have a nurse on staff who will assess the situation. If it is determined that emergency medical attention is needed, we will call 911 and transport the camper to the Nassau County Medical Center (hospital) http://www.nuhealth.net, which is located approximately 3 miles down the road from the Hofstra campus.
